Tips and Tricks: How to Use Social Media to Your Advantage

by | Jun 10, 2020 | Social Media Marketing

Whether it’s Instagram, Twitter, Facebook or Pinterest, each social media platform can be utilized to help grow your business.

The primary purpose of having social media as part of your business plan is to promote your business. Social media can offer you exposure to larger audiences and allow you to connect to your audience.

Having this amazing tool requires knowing how to use it to your advantage to reap all the benefits for your business. Check out these tips to do so:

Create memorable hashtags.

Coming up with a catchy hashtag can be beneficial for allowing others to find you, connect with you and remember your brand. Hashtags add familiarity because using them constantly can leave your business’ name on other’s mind.

You can associate hashtags with reoccurring posts that may be done with a specific theme or weekly, or come up with just one to represent your brand as a whole. The choice is yours.

Be consistent.

The best way to be forgotten is to not be consistent with your content. Creating a social media calendar for postings will help with this also.

You may not start out posting every single day, but posting at least three days out the week for a start can put yourself out there. Followers are more likely to engage when you are constantly seen on their feed.

Use social media for customer service.

If you scroll on Twitter long enough you are more than likely to see someone tweeting a brand or company about a concern they would like fixed. Companies use social media all the time to resolve issues from their customers.

Using social media as a resource for customer service and feedback also means a quicker response than if one were to use email, for example.

Know your audience.

Not every platform is necessary for your business depending on your audience.

If your audience is considered more tech-savvy, then using multiple platforms may be necessary. However, if your audience consists of the majority who are on one site, then creating others may not be beneficial.

You want to go where it will be worthwhile and results will be seen, rather than a waste of time and energy across other platforms.

Be Engaging.

Your followers and supporters are more likely to engage with you if they know there’s a chance of you engaging back.

This is your opportunity to have direct communication with those who are apart of your business whether customers, followers or employees.

Being engaging will also build trust and customer loyalty.

Monitor and track what’s being said.

An awesome tool for social media is the search engine. With this, you can search your business’s name and see what is being said about it. Any public post where your name appears will be visible to you.

If there are any concerns or suggestions, you can see that for yourself without having to guess what your audience wants. You can also see what your business is being praised for, and that is always a bonus.
